A former world and double European champion over 60m, Richard has a number of accolades under his belt including Commonwealth Games gold and World Championship silver in the 4x100m relay in 2018 and 2019, as well as forming part of Team GB’s bronze medal-winning men’s 4x100m relay squad at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Richard announced his retirement from competing in athletics in March 2025 following an incredible sporting career. Whilst he has retired from competing professionally, Richard continues to use his invaluable knowledge and experience to coach the next generation of sports superstars, both within and external to the Sporting Champions scheme.
Nicknamed “The Teesside Tornado”, his personal bests for the three individual events are 6.49 seconds (60m), 10.01 seconds (100m) and 20.34 seconds (200m), respectively. An Elite athlete since 2022, Richard is passionate about teaching athletes about speed, strength and agility and showing them what it takes to get to the top of your sport.
