Maisie is a para-swimmer who has been taking the sport by storm since her first Paralympic Games at Tokyo 2020, where she came away with two gold medals – one in the 200m medley and the other in the 100m breaststroke. Alongside her Paralympic triumphs, she was also the 2019 World 200m medley Champion and the 2018 European 200m medley Champion. For her efforts, Maisie was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to swimming.
More recently, Maisie retained her titles in the SB6 100m Breaststroke and SM6 200m Individual Medley at the 2024 Europeans in Madeira, as well as receiving silver in the 400m freestyle and bronze in the 50m event. At the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Maisie came away with two golds – one in SB6 100m breaststroke and one in SM6 200m individual medley – as well as a bronze in the S6 400m freestyle.
Out of the pool, Maisie recently graduated with a degree in teaching from the University of Northampton.
Maisie has been an Elite athlete on the scheme since 2022, and her friendly, light-hearted and fun-loving attitude is infectious to everyone around her. Aside from her incredible accomplishments in the pool, she is also known for her work promoting inclusivity and representation for disabled people, particularly in media and sport. In our most recent mentoring day, Maisie spoke about her experience with balancing a career, university and the life of a 22-year-old, all whilst competing at the top of her sport.
